Whats The Difference Between

Air Source & Ground Source Heat Pumps?

Whilst the technology works in a similar way of extracting heat from external sources, the methods, benefits and suitability are fundamentally different.

Ground Source Heat Pump

Collector pipes are installed commonly in a ground loop 1m deep. They then draw heat from the ground to the heat pump in self. Any lost heat will be replenished by sunlight.

Ground Source Heat Pumps are suitable for those with a garden approximately 75% the size of their property.

Air Source Heat Pumps

The air is blown through tubes filled with refrigerant, turning it from a liquid to a gas. This gas is then compressed, which increased the heat, and sent throughout your home.

Air Source Heat Pumps are (usually) considered permitted development and suitable for the majority of homes.
